Custom Blog Background

I think that I had about 6 different templates in the past week. I started by using the new “Template Designer,” but for some reason I was not able change the background to a custom image; I was only able to change the backgrounds that were offered through the Blogger Template Designer. I wasn’t completely satisfied with the default backgrounds, so I searched the web for other options.

Several of the templates that I tried to used wanted me to change to a “minima” template within Blogger, download a background, upload the background to photobucket.com, “add a page element,” and then add the code that I downloaded into the “HTML/JavaScript widget.” However, the only option I had was to add a gadget. In trying this, it only added the actual text part of the code to the main page, and it didn’t add the background. I also tried several templates that allowed me to upload the code through the “Edit HTML” option within Blogger Design. The first couple of templates I updated using this method did not look that great -- either the formatting was off, or the layout of the page was unacceptable. I finally settled on a template called coffee break. I can’t say that it’s the best blog template out there, but it’s better than the others that I had tested. Honestly, I’ll probably be changing it sometime within the next week. After all, isn’t this the beauty of the web media -- being able to change it as often as you want?
